Looking for cost efficient heating?
You should be aware that current building regulations state that any replacement or new gas-fired boiler must be a condensing boiler. See our “Types of Systems” page.
Older boilers convert as little as 60% of the fuel they use into heat which has a big impact on your home heating bills and the environment.
We specialise in the installation of condensing boilers and renewable energy products from many manufacturers including Vaillant and Worcester Bosch, using the latest technology available.
Modern condensing boilers improve efficiency to over 90% which could save you a minimum of 30% per year on your home heating bills, which represents a big saving over the lifetime of your boiler.
A well maintained boiler will burn fuel efficiently but can naturally lose some heat through the flue. With a condensing boiler it has a larger heat exchanger, so it recovers more heat, sends cooler gases up the flue and is more efficient.
At Gas Safe Heating & Plumbing Ltd we recommend our clients have an annual boiler service, to keep their system running efficiently.
Depending on your heating and hot water demand there are different types of condensing boilers that are available; please contact us or see our “Types of Systems” page for any questions you might have regarding the main boiler types.
As Vaillant accredited Installers we can offer up to 10 years parts and labour warranty on all Vaillant boilers.
We also install water heaters, cookers and gas hobs, so if you are looking to update your appliance please contact us.
What should I consider when replacing my boiler?
You should consider these following: Fuel type, Boiler Type.
How much hot water do you use?
Where will it go in your home?
Fuel type: It is cheaper to run a gas boiler than an electric boiler. If you don’t have gas maybe you should consider it as it will save on the electric bill per kilowatt per hour.
Boiler type- Most of the old style boilers use a separate hot water cylinder to store the hot water, whilst a combination boiler instantaneously heats water on demand straight to your tap or shower head.
How much hot water do you use? – For a large family (6+) that uses a lot of hot water then you could install a regular boiler such as a Vaillant 4 series with an un-vented cylinder. For small to medium households then it would be advised to install a combination boiler, some of which can easily handle two showers running simultaneously at full-rate.
Where will it go in your home? – Combination boilers are compact and do not require a cylinder and can easily be slotted in to a kitchen cupboard, or in the loft space.
Regular boilers can go in the kitchen as well but they have a separate cylinder and controls which are usually housed in an airing cupboard, however lots of people are putting the whole system in the loft these days.
